It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Stara Błotnica.{{TERYT}} It lies approximately {{convert|12|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} south of Białobrzegi and {{convert|74|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} south of Warsaw.
