}}Stauning or Chaos (Danish:{{Lang|da|Stauning eller Kaos}}) is a famous Danish poster and slogan from the parliamentary election of 1935, in which Social Democrat Thorvald Stauning campaigned for re-election. The Social Democrats won the election getting 68 out of 149 seats, and Stauning went on to become the second-longest serving Prime Minister in Danish history.{{cite book|first=Henry|last=Conserva|date=9 June 2006|title=National Slogans From Around the World|publisher=AuthorHouse|isbn=9781463454746|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=DsJu1iboWaIC|access-date=11 March 2023|archive-date=11 March 2023|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230311084612/https://books.google.com/books?id=DsJu1iboWaIC|url-status=live}}{{cite book|first1=Torben Kragh|last1=Grodal|first2=Bente|last2=Larsen|first3=Iben Thorving|last3=Laursen|year=2005|title=Visual Authorship: Creativity And Intentionality In Media|publisher=Museum Tusculanum Press|page=175|isbn=9788763501286|issn=1601-829X|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=qRpxLdn7C4EC|access-date=2023-03-11|archive-date=2023-03-11|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230311084614/https://books.google.com/books?id=qRpxLdn7C4EC|url-status=live}}{{cite journal|title=Prestige and lack of alternative: Denmark and the United Nations in the making|first=Norbert|last=Götz|journal=Scandinavian Journal of History|volume=29|issue=2|doi=10.1080/03468750410004594|issn=0346-8755|pages=73–96|year=2004}}{{cite book|title=Stauning eller kaos: socialdemokratiet og krisen i trediverne|language=da|last=Sonne|first=Harding|year=1974|publisher=Hans Reitzels Forlag|isbn=978-87-412-3089-4|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=H_maQAAACAAJ|access-date=2023-03-11|archive-date=2023-03-11|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230311084612/https://books.google.com/books?id=H_maQAAACAAJ|url-status=live}}
The campaign with its warning against "chaos", interpreted as the threat of fascism, is an example of the emotional and activist campaign style used by the major political parties in Denmark in the 1920s and 1930s, often capitalizing on the public fear of the perceived threats of radical ideologies such as fascism and communism.{{cite journal|first=John T.|last=Lauridsen|year=2000|title=Nazistisk Plakatpropaganda I Danmark 1930-45|language=da|doi=10.7146/fof.v39i1.40715|journal=Fund og Forskning I Det Kongelige Biblioteks Samlinger|volume=39|issue=1|page=183|doi-access=free}}
