Stephen Ward (born 1973), is a male former weightlifter who competed for England.{{cite web|url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/4777955/Weightlifting-Ward-ready-for-lift-off.html|title=Weightlifting: Ward ready for lift off|website=The Telegraph}}
Weightlifting career
Ward represented England and won three silver medals in the 83 kg division, at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria. The three medals were won during an unusual period when three medals were awarded in one category (clean and jerk, snatch and combined) which invariably led to the same athlete winning all three of the same colour medal.{{cite web|url=https://teamengland.org/commonwealth-games-history/victoria-1994/athletes|title=1994 Athletes|website=Team England}}{{cite web|url=https://thecgf.com/results/games/3043/19/all|title=England team in 1994|website=Commonwealth Games Federation|access-date=23 October 2019|archive-date=7 May 2021|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210507165937/https://thecgf.com/results/games/3043/19/all|url-status=dead}} Four years later he won a snatch gold medal and two silver medals for England, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia {{cite web|url=https://teamengland.org/commonwealth-games-history/kuala-lumpur-1998/athletes|title=1998 Athletes|website=Team England}}{{cite web|url=https://thecgf.com/results/games/3044/19/all|title=England team in 1998|website=Commonwealth Games Federation|access-date=23 October 2019|archive-date=30 March 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190330125318/https://thecgf.com/results/games/3044/19/all|url-status=dead}} and he also competed at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.{{cite web|url=https://thecgf.com/results/athletes/55649|title=Athletes and results|website=Commonwealth Games Federation}}
