Steve Russ (born September 16, 1972){{Cite web|url=https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RussSt20.htm|title = Steve Russ Stats| website=Pro-Football-Reference.com }} is an American football coach and former professional linebacker who is currently the defensive coordinator for the UAB Blazers football team. He played college football as a linebacker for Air Force before being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 1995 NFL draft.{{Cite web |title=1995 NFL Draft Listing |url=https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1995/draft.htm |access-date=2023-03-31 |website=Pro-Football-Reference.com |language=en}} He also played for the Los Angeles Xtreme in the original XFL and has been a coach since 2001.

Coaching career

=Carolina Panthers=

=Washington Football Team / Commanders=

In January 2020, Russ was hired again by Rivera to be the linebackers coach for the Washington Football Team, then known as the Washington Redskins.{{cite web|url=https://www.commanders.com/news/announcements/redskins-announce-coaching-staff|work=Commanders.com|title=Redskins Announce Coaching Staff|date=January 15, 2020|author=Washington Commanders Public Relations|accessdate=February 14, 2024}} He held the role for four seasons, but was fired upon the hiring of new head coach Dan Quinn.

=Air Force=
