Stornoway is a special service area{{cite web|url=http://www.mds.gov.sk.ca/apps/temp/rptEntire1719.pdf|title=Municipal Directory System|publisher=Government of Saskatchewan|page=229|access-date=November 19, 2016}} within the Rural Municipality of Wallace No. 243. In 2006 the community had a population of 10 people. The Community was founded in the late 1890s by Robert MacKay of Stornoway, Scotland.
