Supercuts is a hair salon franchise with more than 2,400 locations across the United States. The company was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1975, by Geoffrey M. Rappaport and Frank E. Emmett. The company's first location was in Albany, California. The headquarters are located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Supercuts is a wholly owned subsidiary of Regis Corporation, which also owns Regis Salons, Mia & Maxx, MasterCuts, Cost Cutters, SmartStyle, and First Choice Haircutters in the United States and Canada.
The Supercuts salons in the United Kingdom are owned and operated by the Bushell Investment Group, a U.K.-based private family office focused on investing in small and medium enterprise businesses, under a franchise agreement with Regis Corporation.{{cite web |url=https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/oct/24/supercuts-hair-salon-owner-regis-uk-enters-administration |title=Supercuts hair salon owner Regis UK enters administration |website=The Guardian |date=October 24, 2019 |accessdate=2019-10-27}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.pehub.com/2017/10/regis-sells-mall-based-salon-business-to-regent/|date=October 3, 2017|title={{!}} Regis sells mall-based salon business to Regent|website=www.pehub.com|access-date=2019-10-27}}

History
Supercuts was first opened in Albany, California, in 1975. One of the primary goals of the two founders was to expand the brand through franchising, while still maintaining a "less costly" haircut than "upscale" salons.{{Cite web |title=How Supercuts Franchise Achieves National Brand Consistency |url=https://www.pica9.com/blog/supercuts-achieves-national-brand-consistency |access-date=2024-04-08 |website=www.pica9.com |language=en}} A significant marketing pillar of the brand was its "unisex" haircuts – that is, a barbershop not geared exclusively towards men or women. In 1987, the founders sold their brand to a venture capital group, and by 1996 Supercuts had 1,200 locations throughout the United States.{{Cite news |last=Stevenson |first=Seth |date=2021-07-13 |title=Supercuts Pioneered a New Kind of Hair Salon |url=https://slate.com/business/2021/07/supercuts-history-hair-salon-franchise-david-lipson.html |access-date=2024-04-08 |work=Slate |language=en-US |issn=1091-2339}}
