Name
Suzuki's design department chose the name "Hustler" to promote the car's lively and rough riding image. In Japan, the name was used by Suzuki in the past as the nickname of a two-stroke, dual-sport motorcycle, the Hustler TS series. The car's accessories also have a replica sticker of the emblem that was once used in the TS50.{{Cite news|url=http://response.jp/article/2013/12/25/213732.html|title=【スズキ ハスラー 発表】往年の人気オフロードバイクの名前で勝負|date=2013-12-25|access-date=2014-04-13}} Suzuki's distributor in the United States had also sold the Suzuki T20 as the Hustler in the second half of the 1960s.{{cite magazine|title=Suzuki Motorcycles - The GS Papers - From GS To GSX-R| url= http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/features/122_0704_suzuki_motorcycles/viewall.html|archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20131007032126/http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/features/122_0704_suzuki_motorcycles/viewall.html | archivedate=7 October 2013|magazine= Motorcyclist |date=1 April 2007| publisher = Source Interlink Media | quote=In the mid-'60s came a breakthrough bike: the T20, known in the U.S. as the X6 Hustler.}}
