Swiss Lithographers' Union
The Swiss Lithographers' Union ({{langx|de|Schweizerische Lithographenbund}}, SLB; {{langx|fr|Union Suisse des Lithographes}}) was a trade union representing printers in Switzerland.
The union was founded in 1888 in Winterthur, to represent lithographers and other flat-bed printers, such as copperplate printers and chemographers. It based itself in Bern and in 1893 it affiliated to the Swiss Trade Union Federation (SGB).{{cite web |title=Schweizerischer Lithographenbund (SLB) / Union Suisse des Lithographes / Unione Svizzera dei Litografi |url=https://www.findmittel.ch/archive/archNeu/Ar413.html |website=Schweizerisches Sozialarchiv |access-date=4 December 2020}}
The union came into frequent demarcation disputes with the Swiss Typographers' Union, and was suspended from the SGB from 1925 until 1928 amid a dispute over offset printers; to rejoin, it had to concede that they should join its rival. Despite this, the union grew, by 1954, it had 3,059 members,{{cite book |last1=Mitchell |first1=James P. |title=Directory of Labor Organizations: Europe |date=1955 |publisher=United States Department of Labor |location=Washington DC |pages=28.16–28.24}} From 1944 to 1958, the union's central secretary was Friedrich Segessenmann.{{cite web |title=Friedrich Segessenmann |url=https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/de/articles/033585/2011-11-21/ |website=Historisches Lexikon der Schweiz |access-date=4 December 2020}} and by 1979 this had risen to 6,279.{{cite book |last1=Coldrick |first1=Percy |last2=Jones |first2=Philip |title=The International Directory of the Trade Union Movement |date=1979 |publisher=Facts on File |location=New York |isbn=0871963744 |pages=66–70}}
In the 1980s, professional boundaries in the industry weakened, and in 1998 it merged with Union of Printing and Paper, the Employees' Union of the Swiss Book Trade, and the Swiss Union of Journalists, to form Comedia.{{cite web |title=Gewerkschaft Druck und Papier (GDP) / Syndicat du livre et du papier / Sindacato del libro e della carta |url=https://www.findmittel.ch/Archive/archNeu/Ar410.html |website=Schweizerisches Sozialarchiv |access-date=4 December 2020}}
