On 4 February 1992, the Union launched a popular initiative "For the abolition of direct federal taxation", supported by the national councillors Philippe Pidoux, Suzette Sandoz, Joseph Iten and Maximilian Reimann, the Vorort, the Patronal Centre, the Vaud League and the National Recovery.
