Swoop is a body-suit mascot for the University of Utah.
History
Swoop, a red-tailed hawk, is the mascot of the Utah Utes sports teams. The university introduced Swoop with the consent of the tribal council of the Ute tribe in 1996.{{cite web| url=http://www.trademarks.utah.edu/traditions/mascot.html| title=Utah Mascot| publisher=Trademarks.utah.edu| access-date=2009-05-16| url-status=dead| archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100609170035/http://www.trademarks.utah.edu/traditions/mascot.html| archive-date=2010-06-09}} Originally the school's mascot was an American Indian, but was dropped.
