Thioredoxin domain-containing protein 12 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TXNDC12 gene.{{cite journal | vauthors = Andersson B, Wentland MA, Ricafrente JY, Liu W, Gibbs RA | title = A "double adaptor" method for improved shotgun library construction | journal = Anal Biochem | volume = 236 | issue = 1 | pages = 107–13 |date=Jun 1996 | pmid = 8619474 | doi = 10.1006/abio.1996.0138 }}{{cite journal | vauthors = Yu W, Andersson B, Worley KC, Muzny DM, Ding Y, Liu W, Ricafrente JY, Wentland MA, Lennon G, Gibbs RA | title = Large-scale concatenation cDNA sequencing | journal = Genome Res | volume = 7 | issue = 4 | pages = 353–8 |date=Jun 1997 | pmid = 9110174 | pmc = 139146 | doi = 10.1101/gr.7.4.353}}{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: TXNDC12 thioredoxin domain containing 12 (endoplasmic reticulum)| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=51060}}
TXNDC12 belongs to the thioredoxin superfamily (see TXN; MIM 187700). Members of this superfamily possess a thioredoxin fold with a consensus active-site sequence (CxxC) and have roles in redox regulation, defense against oxidative stress, refolding of disulfide-containing proteins, and regulation of transcription factors{{cite journal | vauthors = Galligan JJ, Petersen DR | title = The human protein disulfide isomerase gene family | journal = Human Genomics | volume = 6 | issue = 6 | pages = 6 | date = July 2012 | pmid = 23245351 | pmc = 3500226 | doi = 10.1186/1479-7364-6-6 | doi-access = free }} (Liu et al., 2003).[supplied by OMIM]
