Takracetus was a primitive cetacean that lived approximately {{Mya|45}}. The type specimen (GSP-UM 3041) is a partial skull{{Harvnb|Gingerich|Arif|Clyde|1995}}

though the literature mentions a second more complete specimen.{{Harvnb|Hulbert|Petkewich|Bishop|Bukry|1998}}
