Talfit, Jenin

The northern and westerns parts of Telfit contain ruins dating to the ByzantineDauphin, 1998, p. 789 and Early Islamic periods between the 5th-8th centuries. Ancient building material is used in some of the houses.

Telfit is absent from 16th century records. It was initially settled by people from Qabatiya. It is likely that the village was not inhabited before the 18th century.Grossman, D. (1986). In the 1922 census of Palestine, conducted by the British Mandate authorities, Telfit had a population of 43; 24 Muslims and 19 Christians,Barron, 1923, Table IX, Sub-district of Jenin, p. In the 1945 statistics the population was 170; all Muslims,Department of Statistics, 1945, p. In the wake of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and after the 1949 Armistice Agreements, Telfit came under Jordanian rule.

Since the Six-Day War in 1967, Telfit has been under Israeli occupation.

Most of the village's residents are descendants of refugees from Arabia and Turkmen from Central Asia, who work as land tenants.
