Ketoglutarate

In most biochemistry, the molecules is usually considered as an ion rather than acid in physiological condition. So I modified some Ketoglutaric acid to be ketoglutarate Shrimp wong 17:06, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Since the molecule has importance in both amino acid biosynthesis and the Krebs cycle, we should probably discuss it's role in each in seperate sections. Yuorme 20:08, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Comment the uppercase Greek alpha looks like a Latin uppercase A, so it is better for it to be rendered as "alpha" instead of α Also all alpha-form chem terms are also found spelled out as "alpha", so it is not unusual to find it rendered in the current format. -- 67.70.27.105 (talk) 01:13, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
  • The upper-case page name is a technical limitation. The article itself now contains {{DISPLAYTITLE:α-Ketoglutaric acid}}, but this doesn't work yet as "Invalid; does not match title."; after renaming, the title should be rendered with the lower-case "α" (and maybe then {{tlx|DISPLAYTITLE}} can be replaced with {{tlx|lowercase title}}), like in α-Acetyldigoxin and so on. The "alpha-" rendering found in some literature is also just an old typographic limitation; we don't have such problems here and thus can use the "real" name, as it is done throughout the article. — Mikhail Ryazanov (talk) 19:58, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
  • Support per Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(chemistry)#Capitalization_of_elements_and_compounds. I don't understand how {{tl|lowercasetitle}} yields the greek letter, but it does seem to work in the case of α-Acetyldigoxin. There are a good number of articles that could be moved similarly (e.g. beta-Carotene) but there has not yet been a concerted effort to standardize the title format. Also let's make sure all the proper redirects are in place to capture all possible search inputs. Mdewman6 (talk) 20:22, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
