The sources blaming RSS and BJP are misattributed
The sources only claim that RSS and BJP didn't take any action against the pogrom. Such sources shouldn't be used to classify the parties as belligerents in the infobox Factpineapple (talk) 07:43, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
:if at all RSS/BJP were involved in Riots their role should be elaborated upon else the reference is to be deleted as it is misleading. 2405:201:4001:7875:43DE:C122:5BC2:E4E8 (talk) 03:08, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
::True, their names are added with no context or if any, by saying they were "allegedly" involved. Seems like a part of disinformation campaign trying to downplay the role of real perpetrators of this heinous act 2405:201:D035:6060:D543:503:978E:D9B5 (talk) 09:26, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

Wiki title listed as "riots" can be seen as downplaying events & lacking neutrality
I understand that in the wiki description, below the title, other terms (pogrom, genocide) are written. However, the title itself still implies the violence as "riots", implying a clash between two groups and this label continues to downplay the systematic nature of the violence. The terms used by the communities affected would be most appropriate to use.
Either the title itself should include all the terms used (i.e., 1984 anti-sikh riots/pogrom/genocide) to include all perspectives or needs to include a term all will agree on. Shelleydoul (talk) 21:36, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
Shift in language/terminology
Request to include an additional section/paragraph on the shifts in language, how the various shifts came about and what that says about who drives the narrative. The particular language shifts about these events (use terms such as "riots", "pogrom", "genocide", "violence", "assault", "attacks") reflect issues related justice, accountability, and the power dynamics in shaping historical narratives.
Please see the article from Times of India that discusses the language shifts:
Sikh Genocide: Significant Shift in Language Surrounding 1984 Anti-Sikh Violence: From 'Carnage' to 'Genocide' | Chandigarh News - Times of India Shelleydoul (talk) 21:44, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
Why BJP and RSS is mentioned but their role is nowhere elaborated in the article
Sorry to say this but if BJP and RSS were indeed a part of anti Sikh violence then it should be detailed somewhere in the page, throwing their name in the info box without giving any evidence or providing context is unjustifiable. Moreover, the article says they were allegedly involved with no further context.

This is highly misleading and propoganda based page no proper evidence has been provided for the information.
The sources blaming BJP, RSS and Congress is totally misleading. These riots were publically and politically planned and operated by local religious division and sources of ISI involvement are also there if you can blame rss and BJP and congress go blame ISI aswell.
You have no proper source and evidence of blaming these political parties and the Indian Armed Forces you're using unreliable data and conspiracies. Aryesh P (talk) 14:05, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
:@Aryesh P Which sources are you talking about exactly? Gaismagorm (talk) 15:32, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
BJP and RSS
BJP was not even a national party in 1984. How can it be involved and also no BJP , RSS member was arrested, so they can;t be involved. congress members were arrested though 2405:201:4001:419C:650A:B2A4:BBE8:3329 (talk) 18:04, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Not a genocide
Please remove the label “genocide” from the beginning sentence. There are no academic sources which call it a genocide. This label is predominantly used by activist groups, particularly Sikh activist groups. Academic sources ubiquitously use the labels “riots” and “massacre”, and sometimes “pogrom”. ChanduDev (talk) 01:48, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
:Also the label was added by one user a few weeks back. You can see previous talk page discussions dating back years show a consensus not to call it a genocide. ChanduDev (talk) 01:50, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
::Talk:1984 anti-Sikh riots/Archive 2#1984 anti-Sikh riots should be termed as Genocide ChanduDev (talk) 01:54, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
Alleged Involvement of BJP and RSS Cited to Spread Fake Propaganda
I am writing to raise a concern regarding the content of a Wikipedia article that appears to suggest the involvement of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Based on official records, including the findings of the Nanavati Commission and other judicial inquiries, the primary individuals and groups held responsible for orchestrating and inciting the violence belonged to the Indian National Congress. There is no conclusive evidence from these inquiries indicating organizational involvement of the BJP or RSS in the riots. In fact, several reports and eyewitness accounts mention members of the RSS and other non-Congress organizations actively helping Sikh families during the attacks.
It's totally baseless to accuse BJP and RSS without a single fact supporting these claims. This has been added just to fuel the propaganda.
Therefore, I respectfully request that Wikipedia editors review the sources cited in the relevant article(s), verify the factual basis of any claims implicating the BJP and RSS, and either remove or clarify any misleading or unsubstantiated content. Wikipedia’s strength lies in its commitment to verifiability, neutrality, and reliable sourcing, and it is crucial that articles dealing with sensitive historical events uphold these standards.
If needed, I am happy to assist by providing references or pointing toward reliable sources to support this correction. Lakshya2007 (talk) 10:07, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
