Merging

This seems like a good idea, this article seems a lot more comprehensive than the other one. XYaAsehShalomX 09:42, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

(Posted to Talk:2005 Birmingham Riot for merging) Hi. I created the 2005 Birmingham riots article and this article has been brought to my attention. Someone has proposed merging the articles and I second this. I suggest using the other article as the main page as the name fits previous 'riot' article naming conventions (see 2005 Clichy-sous-Bois riots). Also Lozells Riot needs to be further re-directed in this case. Further renaming and work probably needs to be done for Handsworth riots as well to bring it into line. Re-writing

I've re-written the article, the previous entry had loosely connected headings and contained irrelevant information. Ill write about the solidarity march/aftermath (graves) etc when i have more time, and include the name of the stabbed individual. Including anything on assimilation of ethnic minorities is completely besides the point, the rioting had nothing to do with the 'white population' or the police. So a pre-emptive please, don't link to the paris riots. Its just silly.

:I've finished writing, any comments would be appreciated. If anyone thinks the formating should different (ie seperate headings) or if i've left anything out please say.--172.200.221.14 00:46, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Aaron James

His inclusion as a victim related to the riots is based on the judge's comments when sentencing[http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/4932116.stm]

'But he said: "You went onto the streets during a well-known disturbance with a gun knowing it to be loaded.

"The material before me makes it impossible for me to accept you had it for a purpose unconnected with the civil disturbance.'Zaq12wsx 15:34, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
