Talk:2011 Kurdish protests in Iraq#merge

Over the weekend there was an Islamic inspired riots all over northern Iraqi province of Dohuk. There is already a wikipedia page on it, and I think that it must also be mentioned here as it is a recent islamic inspired movement in the Kurdish region.

A long time ago someone proposed a merger of this article and 2011 Sulaymaniyah protests, I would like to pledge my support in that they are essentially the same topic. Charles Essie (talk) 20:26, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

I think it pretty much covers everything that 2011 Sulaymaniyah protests covered with the exception of the issues listed below. I'd say we should wait a few more days, to see if there is any other reaction, just to be on the safe side. I'm currently in the process of merging the two articles. There are however a lot of uncited information in this article. Also some of the information conflicts with that of 2011 Sulaymaniyah protests.

Issues:

• This articles states that the shooting that killed the teenager happened on 21 Feb while the [http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/17/us-iraq-protests-idUSTRE71G6PF20110217 Reuters reports] it happened on the 17th of Feb.
• This article also states: "Twenty-nine people throughout Iraq were killed, many of them in the Kurdish region." and then it cites three sources none of which make that claim the deaths happened in the Kurdistan region.
• This article also claims that the 2011 Dohuk riots were part of this protest. As far as see this was a separate incident that wasn't related to the anti-gov't protest that this article describes.

I've taken out the unsourced information for now. and I think the merger is now complete which means 2011 Sulaymaniyah protests can be deleted. ~ Zirguezi 09:36, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

:I have reverted the merger. A merger was suggested and should be discussed. Not just implemented right away, just because you, personally, agree with it. Wikipedia is run by consensus, not individual editors taking matters into their own hands, because they feel that they are right. Others may disagree. What reason do you have to ignore them? Overrule them perhaps, but only after a proper discussion where you listen to their arguments and only if you are backed by consensus.--ZarlanTheGreen (talk) 13:48, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
