The signature I first saw and always used is a bit different to the ones in the two "official" sites. Any objections to add it to Wikipedia? The sig goes like this:

Authors do not completely understand the rôle of ASCII
As follows from [http://www.asciiribbon.org the website], it was not a campaign for ASCII-only email. The word "ASCII" refers to ASCII art as an alternative to HTML. RFC 1855 is irrelevant – an HTML can perfectly be an ASCII only and vice versa, a plain text may contain controls and is not necessarily 8-bit clean. These are different concerns; authors apparently are just ignorant about software problems of late 1990s. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 19:13, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
asciiribbon.org no longer active
As of 1 July 2013, asciiribbon.org has abandoned this effort.
asciiribbon.org is now a spam site
No "Stub"
I believe the article's length is just adequate for the topic. The large amount of "stub" signs in Wikipedia in an annoyance, and even more so, as they take a very prominent position in a big box on top (and, it seems, are rarely removed). Too large articles do not add to quality of a dictionary.
External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to {{plural:2|one external link|2 external links}} on ASCII Ribbon Campaign. Please take a moment to review [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=prev&oldid=712293353 my edit]. You may add {{tlx|cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{tlx|nobots|deny{{=}}InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.asciiribbon.org/
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.asciiribbon.org/
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{tlx|Sourcecheck}}).

Up for PROD
Not sure I have time to work on rescuing this from PROD right now - if it goes that way perhaps move to draft. Some quick links to check on:

- {{ping|HyperAccelerated}} would these satisfy that this is an actual thing of modest notability? — xaosflux Talk 16:39, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- :Are they mentions or do they discuss the subject in detail? Quotations would be helpful. HyperAccelerated (talk) 17:03, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- ::From those sources:
- ::#Phishing Exposed has a section that says that though the campaign has been used by security researchers, the solution isn't a practical measure against security threats. "The regression of certain features of technology is not exactly the solution..."
- ::#Applied Cryptography reports that HTML email became widely adopted "despite opposition by tech enthusiasts (as expressed e.g., in the ASCII ribbon campaign)."
- ::#Magdeburger Journal zur Sicherheitsforschung has back in the days there was the ASCII Ribbon Campaign that advocated for text-only mails.
- :These are certainly not in-depth reports on the subject. They do seem to be reliable, independent sources. I'm not sure how much significant coverage may be out there - suspect most of the lesser known such ribbons aren't very heavily covered. — xaosflux Talk 18:42, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- ::Okay, we would need significant coverage to establish that the subject is notable and worthy of its own article. I'm happy to evaluate sources that you believe meet the threshold for significant coverage, but if you dePROD this article without sourcing improvements, I will send the article to AfD.
