– Proposing downcasing for consistency with article titles for provinces in other countries, as recently done for Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. See recent discussions at Talk:An Giang Province#Requested move 7 November 2021, Talk:Amnat Charoen Province#Requested move 2 December 2021, Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/China- and Chinese-related articles#Chinese placenames, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Southeast Asia#Downcasing "Province". The first 31 are current provinces and the last four are historical provinces. Please note that the last two are currently titled a bit differently from the others. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:56, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

  • Support It is not necessary to be consistent with other countries since the considerations for each country might vary. However, there is nonetheless a good case to be made for the proposed moves. I have taken a random sample of the subject articles: [https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Bushehr+Province&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&case_insensitive=on&corpus=26&smoothing=3&direct_url=t4%3B%2CBushehr%20Province%3B%2Cc0%3B%2Cs0%3B%3BBushehr%20Province%3B%2Cc0%3B%3BBushehr%20province%3B%2Cc0 Bushehr Province], [https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Kermanshah+Province&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&case_insensitive=on&corpus=26&smoothing=3&direct_url=t4%3B%2CKermanshah%20Province%3B%2Cc0%3B%2Cs0%3B%3BKermanshah%20province%3B%2Cc0%3B%3BKermanshah%20Province%3B%2Cc0 Kermanshah Province], [https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Mazandaran+Province&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&case_insensitive=on&corpus=26&smoothing=3&direct_url=t4%3B%2CMazandaran%20Province%3B%2Cc0%3B%2Cs0%3B%3BMazandaran%20Province%3B%2Cc0%3B%3BMazandaran%20province%3B%2Cc0 Mazandaran Province], [https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Semnan+Province&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&case_insensitive=on&corpus=26&smoothing=3&direct_url=t4%3B%2CSemnan%20Province%3B%2Cc0%3B%2Cs0%3B%3BSemnan%20Province%3B%2Cc0%3B%3BSemnan%20province%3B%2Cc0 Semnan Province] and [https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Bahrain+Province&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&case_insensitive=on&corpus=26&smoothing=3&direct_url= Bahrain Province] (Ngrams not found: Bahrain Province). The n-gram data consistently shows that the sample article titles do not meet the threshold per MOS:CAPS to cap "province". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cinderella157 (talkcontribs) 01:00, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
