[[WP:1E]]

{{ping|S0091}} I disagree that this is 1E. I assume you mean the 1E is his 2025 arrest. I think it is unfair to say he is only notable for this event. Many people get arrested by ICE and there is no news story. The news is reporting this because he is notable for his other activities. Additionally, one of the source is from 2015 so that is not in the 1E. If you look at the sources you will see they are reporting because of the recent event but they give significant coverage to his life and other activities outside of the arrest. Czarking0 (talk) 00:08, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:@Czarking0 you are welcome to resubmit it for another review. If you do that, I will post an AfC comment letting the next reviewer know look here. S0091 (talk) 00:14, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

::Will do, I also added another source form before this arrest. Czarking0 (talk) 00:18, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Notability

{{ping|User:Theroadislong}} want to explain the notability tag? There are 8 sources, mostly reliable and independent, all secondary. Czarking0 (talk) 17:50, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:because it was declined twice at WP:AFC and being a farmworker, community organizer, and immigrant to the United States is not a sufficient reason for notability? Theroadislong (talk) 18:16, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

::I think the best way to resolve this one way or the other is via WP:AFD. Czarking0 clearly disagrees with AfC reviewers so best to let others in the community decide. If it's not nominated in the couple days or so, I will do so.

::{{pb}}@Czarking0 in the future, if you feel strongly a topic meets the notability guidelines, then just create the article in mainspace or create as a draft then move it yourself. It is a pointless exercise to have AfC review it if the only outcome you will accept is an accept. S0091 (talk) 19:15, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:::This isn't about my "feelings" this is about the guidelines. The article is notable under WP:GNG. Point taken though as an AfC reviewer myself I feel perfectly qualified to determine if a Draft should be moved to the mainspace. Czarking0 (talk) 20:04, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

::::@Czarking0 re: "feel" poor wording on my part. S0091 (talk) 20:37, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

::{{ping|Theroadislong}} Tags should be done in accordance with the guidelines. The subject is notable under WP:GNG. Czarking0 (talk) 20:00, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:::If it is notable why did User:NiftyyyNofteeeee and User: S0091 decline the draft and User:Setergh reject it at WP:AFC? Theroadislong (talk) 20:29, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

::::* S0091 rejected under 1E which I responded to in the section above.

::::* Not sure on Niftyy but I added a lot of sources since then so maybe their opinion would be different now

::::* Setergh seems to have no idea how WP:GNG and WP:ANYBIO works and used STOP resubmit wrong so I am just disregarding their take until they explain further.

::::Regardless you should not tag things because of what others said you should tag based on your own understanding of how the guidelines apply to the article. In this case, I think it is clear the subject/article passes WP:GNG Czarking0 (talk) 20:35, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::Would respond right now, though I'm facing very strange issues when trying to so I'll likely do it tomorrow. Setergh (talk) 21:15, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::I felt that when I had read it at its version at the time, it wasn't worthy of an article. The whole article seems to mainly revolve around the ICE arrest (which seems to be the only notable event). As this is the only important thing about the person, the fact that it seems rather miniscule at best (especially based on what I was given to read at the time) personally made it not fit notability guidelines. After all, it was an arrest where a small group of people decided to protest afterwards. This doesn't seem to be anything significant.

:::::I do not know what you mean by me using whatever stop resubmit is wrong. Either way, if you feel that the people who participate in AfC (especially those less experienced than you) tend to be wrong, I don't see the point of submitting drafts. After all, you have almost 5,000 edits, more than double what I have, so I don't understand the reason for submitting drafts when you're clearly not an inexperienced editor. Though yes, I am not particularly an experienced editor, and if you think what I say is invalid then please do refer to the other editors which are likely to be more experienced than me. Setergh (talk) 21:49, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

::::::Thanks, FYI when declining the AfC you usually want to Decline (default option on the left) rather than Reject. Reject is for things that can never be Wikipedia articles like straight up ads and other unwelcome content. BLP may become notable as more sources publish so it is usually not the right route. Certainly anything under WP:GCSD should be rejected. Yourself and others have asked I not use the AfC process like this so I appreciate that advice and will just make the articles in the future. Czarking0 (talk) 01:25, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::::Wait, did I reject? I don't actually know why I did, I would usually decline. I do apologise, I had thought I denied rather than rejected. My mistake. Setergh (talk) 05:36, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

::::::::Yeah checked on it, I think I did it because based on when I had read it, it seemed like a very minor event which didn't deserve recognition, but yeah I should've denied rather than rejected. I do apologise. Setergh (talk) 06:54, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

::::::::Understandable, thanks for helping with Afc Czarking0 (talk) 16:08, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::I wonder if the lede could be adjusted somehow to indicate why he is notable, currently "is a farmworker, community organizer, and immigrant to the United States" doesn't really give any indication. Theroadislong (talk) 16:35, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::better? Czarking0 (talk) 16:53, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::::I think it's definitely better. It indeed mentions all the things he could be notable for, such as what he was part of and his arrest. Setergh (talk) 17:27, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::::Thanks for engaging @Czarking0! I have only briefly looked at the article but It is much better than when it was moved to mainspace and it appears others agree so I personally don't see a need to take this to AfD anymore. S0091 (talk) 19:44, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::::::Excellent {{U|Czarking0}} much improved. Theroadislong (talk) 20:03, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
