The doll is still symbolic, as the lips, brows etc. are not anatomically correct.

Also: do the therapists cum investigators really use such suggestive "half-true" props?

I propose limiting the scope of this article to children's educational dolls. This could include sex-ed dolls, or be limited to those used in sexual abuse investigation/therapy applications. Few sources discuss the dolls themselves in detail, so it may be better to focus on how they are used and their questionable effectiveness.
