The nickname 'Barcelona Bumble-Bee' was used by just one US newspaper commentator, so far as I know. I've never heard it used in the UK. In Spain I believe she was known as 'Tiger' or 'Lion' a tribute to her fighting qualities.

Unlike other top players of her era, she had no special stroke, nor a powerful service. She was no amazon either. In fact she's an inspirational model for the ordinary player - hence the vague commentary references to her powers of 'retrieval', as if that won you grand slams.

That she 'stung' other notable players sounds condescending. A woman who won two grand slams and was a finalist in the other two in 1994 deserves better.

I believe she has received the Spanish equivalent of the Nobel Prize for her social work off the court.

Where does she live?

The Andorrans are claiming that she lives there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Andorrans). Is there any evidence one way or the other? CsikosLo (talk) 16:14, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

There is a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Tennis#Tournament_names long, ongoing discussion] at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found in tennis articles on English-language Wikipedia (e.g., this type of table). The discussion is about whether the "official sponsored name" of a tournament - such as Pacific Life Open - or another tournament name without the sponsor - such as Indian Wells Masters - must be used in those articles. Please join the discussion here. Thanks. Tennis expert (talk) 09:18, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Dates on [[Arantxa Sánchez Vicario]]

copied from User talk:Ohconfucius

That article started as mdy, not dmy,[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Arantxa_S%C3%A1nchez_Vicario&oldid=3501981] so according to MOSNUM, it should remain as origianlly started since it is not associated with an English-speaking country that uses dmy.--2008Olympianchitchat 08:37, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

  • I changed it since Spain is listed as being a dmy country, believing that to be the correct format. I have no issues to it being put back. Apologies for the inconvenience. Ohconfucius (talk) 09:08, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Mixed record

Cannot be 4-4 if she won several titles. Galant Khan (talk) 01:09, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
