Geography section

»A significant geographical aspect of Assam is that it contains three of six physiographic divisions of India – The Northern Himalayas (Eastern Hills), The Northern Plains (Brahmaputra plain) and Deccan Plateau (Karbi Anglong). As the Brahmaputra flows in Assam the climate here is cold and there is rainfall most of the month.«

This part stinks to heaven. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.130.183.119 (talk) 14:13, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Bodo is the State Associate Official Language

In Assam, Bodo is considered the State Associate Official Language (as per "The Assam Official Language (Amendment) Act, 2020"), as it applies to the "entire state". It allows Bodo to be used for official purposes across the entire state of Assam.{{Cite web |last=Today |first=North East |date=2020-10-07 |title=Bodo to be Associate Official Language of Assam |url=https://www.northeasttoday.in/2020/10/07/bodo-to-be-associate-official-language-of-assam/ |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=Northeast Today |language=en-US}}{{Cite web |last=daily |first=the indian national |date=2020-10-07 |title=Bodo will be the Associate official language for the state of Assam; Himanta Biswa |url=https://theind.tv/north-east/bodo-will-be-the-associate-official-language-for-the-state-of-assam-himanta-biswa/23289/ |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=the indian national daily |language=en-US}}{{Cite web |title=Bodo will be the Associate Official Language for Assam: State Cabinet |url=https://way2barak.com/bodo-will-be-the-associate-official-language-for-assam-state-cabinet/ |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=Way2Barak |language=en-US}} 27.131.214.245 (talk) 16:18, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

Etymology

Asaami (Plural - Asaamin) means farmer in Madheshi languages, ie Bhojpuri/Maithili/Awadhi. May be Assam is derived from this word ! Scyfie (talk) 19:16, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
