– Requesting speedy renaming to match the name of the city, which is Asyut. Ben5218 (talk) 11:28, 23 February 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. Xain36 {talk} 12:38, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

  • As proper nouns the spelling of these does not necessarily coincide with the name of the city. Are these things actually referred to using "Asyut"? Dekimasuよ! 18:50, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

:*{{ping|Dekimasu}} Yes, but in Arabic. I did some searching after I proposed this renaming, and I haven't found many results including Asyut in any of them. Note that I only proposed this after my initial proposal to rename Asyut to Assiut was rejected, because in my opinion all articles related to the city/governorate should be the same. This is the same reason why I proposed articles including Fayoum to be replaced with Faiyum. Ben5218 (talk) 09:06, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

  • Comment Assiut University should not be renamed for being the official and common spellings for the [http://www.aun.edu.eg/ university].  samee  converse  14:10, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. [https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all Google trends] shows no searches for the "Asyut" variant of any of the above (enter your own terms). Even [https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=Assiut,Asyut Assiut vs. Asyut] shows "Assiut" as the common name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danielklein (talkcontribs) 13:02, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
