Balochistan declared its independence from Pakistan on [May14,2025], marking a significant milestone in the region's history. After decades of struggle and resistance, the Baloch people achieved self-determination, paving the way for a new era of governance and development. The newly independent nation faces challenges in building its economy, infrastructure, and institutions, but the Baloch people are determined to shape their own future and preserve their unique cultural identity. Proposal for a new section: Free Balochistan Movement

The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) was formed to establish an independent Balochistan {{Cite news |last=Times |first=The New York |date=2025-03-12 |title=The Balochistan Separatist Movement in Pakistan: What to Know |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/world/asia/balochistan-liberation-army-pakistan.html |access-date=2025-05-21 |work=The New York Times |language=en-US |issn=0362-4331}}, and an effort to remove Iranian and Pakistani dominance over the area. It is the largest but least populous province in Pakistan, Balochistan is rich in natural resources but politically behind the rest of the country.{{Cite web |last=Saifi |first=Sophia |date=2024-08-31 |title=Roadside executions the latest grim chapter for Pakistan’s oldest insurgency |url=https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/30/asia/pakistan-insurgency-violence-intl-hnk |access-date=2025-05-21 |website=CNN |language=en}}.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which is part of the separatist movement, has increased its attacks on Chinese infrastructure projects and Pakistani security forces, particularly those, that are involved in the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The CPEC has created local unrest among the people, with increased military control in Gwadar fueled tensions.{{Cite web |last=Press |first=Associated |date=2025-02-25 |title=No passengers, no planes, no benefits: Pakistan’s newest airport is a bit of a mystery |url=https://edition.cnn.com/travel/pakistan-gwadar-airport-china-intl-hnk/index.html |access-date=2025-05-21 |website=CNN |language=en}} More than 30 militants were killed during a military rescue operation by Pakistan military forces in March 2025 after the BLA took over a passenger train carrying more than 400 hostages.{{Cite web |date=2025-03-12 |title=Pakistan army says 300 hostages freed from train |url=https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgm147dlvv9o |access-date=2025-05-21 |website=www.bbc.com |language=en-GB}}

The conflict significantly intensified after the 2020, when Pakistani forces retaliated through military operations and making suspected insurgents disappear. Both India and the BLA deny Pakistan's accusation that the India supports Baloch militants.{{Cite web |title=Pakistan blames India after seven soldiers killed in Balochistan blast |url=https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/5/6/pakistan-blames-india-after-seven-soldiers-killed-in-balochistan-blast |access-date=2025-05-21 |website=Al Jazeera |language=en}} The FBM emphasizes the ongoing fight for sovereignty by marking August 11 as a "historic day" that represents Baloch resistance beginning in 1947 and urges Baloch groups to stand together against forming alliances with Iran and Pakistan.{{Cite web |title=August 11 Independence Day Of One Portion Of Balochistan: FBM |url=https://balochwarna.com/2024/08/11/august-11-is-independence-day-of-one-portion-of-balochistan-fbm/ |access-date=2025-05-21 |website=Balochwarna |language=en-GB}} MEMRI says that, the FBM has drawn its examples from other independence movements around the globe. In order to challenge the region's current state borders, the movement envisions collaborating with Pashtun groups.{{Cite web |title=Balochistan: Two Steps Away From Independence From Pakistan; Once It Is Achieved, Pakistan Will Collapse; Iran Fears The Same Scenario |url=https://www.memri.org/reports/balochistan-two-steps-away-independence-pakistan-once-it-achieved-pakistan-will-collapse |access-date=2025-05-21 |website=MEMRI |language=en}} According to CNN, Some Baloch factions support peaceful political solutions even as militant activity persists. The FBM calls for international support for their secular nationalist cause, arguing that an independent Balochistan is necessary for regional peace and stability.
