Hotel name needs to be updated to "Jumeirah Burj Al Arab" to align with the brand.

:Wikipedia doesn't follow the WP:Official name of the subjects. You can read that blue link for further information. (CC) Tbhotch 06:27, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

::Hello @Tbhotch, while WP does not follow the "Official Name" of subjects, the incorrect naming of entities causes conflicts with the correct name of the entity used within the entire digital ecosystem. Since the update to the subject name does not remove any content from the existing subject name, this should not be an issue. Can this change please be reverted to align this article with the rest of the references of this entity across the web? Shaun D'Rozario (talk) 07:56, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

:::If you want a move to be performed, you have to perform a WP:Requested move instead. (CC) Tbhotch 07:59, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

::::Thank you for the assistance with this, I'll perform a WP:Requested move instead.

::::Have a nice day! Shaun D'Rozario (talk) 08:18, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

:Support. Google and Google News searches for burj al arab show that recent sources mostly use the full name, including: [https://theweek.com/culture-life/travel/jumeirah-burj-al-arab-dubais-outrageous-peak-of-luxury The Week], [https://www.cntraveler.com/hotels/dubai/jumeirah-marsa-al-arab Condé Nast Traveler], [https://www.forbes.com/sites/katharinakotrba/2024/12/02/this-building-shocks-youdubais-jumeirah-burj-al-arab-turns-25/ Forbes], and [https://www.businesstraveller.com/tried-and-tested/restaurant-review-ristorante-lolivo-al-mahara-jumeirah-burj-al-arab/ Business Traveler]. Usage is not universal but this predominates, especially in more recent sources (I don't know when the name change occurred). --MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 14:34, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

::Oppose given evidence of inconsistent inclusion of Jumeirah and, when used, inconsistent placement before or after the core name Burj Al Arab across multiple sources.--MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 13:22, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

  • Oppose, for the same reason {{user|Myceteae}} said: the sources. Yes, sources calling it "Jumeirah Burj Al Arab" exist, but also there are sources calling it "Burj Al Arab Jumeirah", including [https://guide.michelin.com/en/hotels-stays/dubai/burj-al-arab-jumeirah-6050?arr=2025-07-02&dep=2025-07-03&nA=1&nC=0&nR=1 the Michelin Guide], [https://www.cntraveler.com/hotels/dubai/burj-al-arab-jumeirah Condé Nast Traveler], [https://www.visitdubai.com/es/mice/venues/burj-al-arab-jumeirah Dubai's official tourism and marketing website], or [https://www.arabnews.com/node/2269041/sport Arab News]. Not to forgot the sources that still calling it "Burj Al Arab": [https://www.thenationalnews.com/travel/2024/08/07/burj-al-arab-hotel-review-dubai/ The National UAE], [https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/19/travel/jumeirah-burj-al-arab-helipad-spc CNN], [https://www.timeoutdubai.com/news/tom-jones-in-dubai-gala-dinner Time Out], [https://www.gov.uk/government/news/burj-al-arab-supports-global-cause-to-end-sexual-violence-in-conflict Gov.uk], [https://www.esquireme.com/style/fashion/gucci-opens-pop-up-store-at-the-burj-al-arab Esquire], and a long etcetera. Since there is no prevalence of either name, the long-standing WP:Common name is to be kept as it is how the hotel is known outside the UAE. (CC) Tbhotch 15:32, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
  • :Has there been a name change and, if so, when was it? Most of your sources are old (mid 2024 or earlier) or not dated. The Arab News source is from March 2025 and does reflect the usage you stated. The Dubai tourism site you linked is in Spanish – [https://www.visitdubai.com/en/places-to-visit/burj-al-arab the English version] uses Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. If there was no official name change or if usage (in English) continues to be highly inconsistent, I agree we should leave it. --MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 16:17, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

  • ::* These sources indicates that "Jumeirah" was not added to the name in 2024, but earlier. At which point of 2024 they decided to change the order is unknown, but this shows that sources were already using "Burj Al Arab Jumeirah" as well and we didn't have to move the page then.

  • ::If sources are not going to use a name consistently, there is no reason to use a name that can potentially be changed again by its owner. This is why the WP:Article title policy exists. (CC) Tbhotch 18:25, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
  • :::Adding to this thread, when asking AI about the rebrand, it says the rebrand was launched in May 2024, which aligns with the changes in usage seen across most publications from that date forward.
  • :::Just a thought, the name change, while not absolutely necessary, would still include the old name. i.e. "Jumeirah Burj Al Arab".
  • :::To add to this, looking at google trends for both variations, the trends for the new name appear to be picking up since mid-last-year.
  • :::That being said, the name change would make sense now for current searches for both names, as well as for futureproofing the article.
  • :::Let me know your thoughts. 2001:8F8:2D1A:F447:C068:73FF:FE2E:5E9 (talk) 12:28, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
  • ::::Typically we would need better evidence of an official name change, such as [https://press.wbd.com/na/media-release/max/warner-bros-discovery-announces-max-become-hbo-max-summer a press release] or [https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/14/business/media/hbo-max-streaming-name.html outside coverage]. An AI summary doesn't cut it. Tbhotch is of course correct that we do not automatically adopt official names as article titles. However, in the case of name changes, when performing a common name analysis, we give more weight to sources published after the official change to show whether sources are adopting the new name. Common name still takes precedent and the evidence here shows Jumeirah is used inconsistently. We already have a redirect in place from Jumeirah Burj Al Arab which aids in searching. It's not clear that usage patterns are even trending in the direction of using Jumeirah consistently but if there is a change in the future, we can reconsider then. --MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 13:42, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
  • Oppose. Very clear WP:COMMONNAME. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:57, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
