| quote = And then there was Charles, the Queen’s son who has waited to become King for what seems like an eternity. “What name would he take as King?” the Wikipedia editors wondered. They changed his name in the Queen’s article—from “Charles, Princes of Wales” to “Charles III” to “Charles, King of the United Kingdom”—a number of times. (Charles settled on “Charles III.”)

Father's House should also be recognized

House of Glucksburg should also be mentioned as he is descended from that house in the male line. 2409:40F0:1014:1D2C:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 11:21, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

:You'll need to be more specific as there isn't an article for that House, unless I've failed to find it. Tony Holkham (Talk) 11:26, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

::House of Glücksburg (with umlaut)? Martinevans123 (talk) 13:09, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

:::Silly me, thanks Martin. Tony Holkham (Talk) 13:30, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

  • [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Charles_III/Archive_13#RfC:_Inclusion_of_%22Agnatic_house%22 An RFC] was unsuccessful on this point in 2023, and while some of the opposition was procedural, I see enough opposition on the merits that I doubt there would be consensus for including the agnatic house.--Wehwalt (talk) 13:22, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
  • :I see that Philip relinquished some titles, so not particularly relevant to Charles III...? Tony Holkham (Talk) 13:31, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

"King" or "the King"?

It seems that the leading sentence was changed recently from "Charles III is King of the United Kingdom" to "Charles III is the King of the United Kingdom," going against the convention established in articles covering other monarchs. I was unable to find any Wikipedia guide that covers such a convention, however. Nonetheless I did want to bring this up for the sake of consistency. What do we think about this? Cheers. AnotherHomoSapein (talk) 06:30, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

:We go with "King", for monarch bios. I've removed "the" from the intro. GoodDay (talk) 16:57, 18 May 2025 (UTC)

Does a crop count?

File:King Charles III in July 2023.jpg

It says you need consensus on the talk page for a new lead image, but does a crop from the same image count? Jetwindy (talk) 17:37, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

:@Jetwindy - Yes if the pic is still high enough quality when cropped. Which pic are we talking about? You could put it here for comment. Tony Holkham (Talk) 18:13, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

::Alright, here is the file name: File:King Charles III in July 2023.jpg Jetwindy (talk) 20:56, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

:::There is no problem that I can see. Tony Holkham (Talk) 21:57, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

::::So you mean I can change it to this? Jetwindy (talk) 23:08, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::No, I mean there's no problem with the current (cropped) image, which has been there for some months. Tony Holkham (Talk) 23:16, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::We would show more of his suit and less of his face. Is that better? Wehwalt (talk) 01:07, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::::I mean, the current one has a low resolution but, this one does have a higher res by around 300 pixels horizontally and around 1,000 pixels vertically. Jetwindy (talk) 13:04, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::::It's the same resolution. The present image is a crop of this one. It's better to show his face clearly than focus on the suit. DrKay (talk) 13:10, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::Alright then! I guess we are just keeping this one! Jetwindy (talk) 13:12, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::(i meant we are keeping the current one) Jetwindy (talk) 13:13, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
