Speedy deletion unwarranted.

Chris Foote was a leading chemist in the field of singlet oxygen and a writer of an extremely popular chemistry textbook for undergraduates. The page needs development but deletion should not be its fate.

:I agree that the speedy deletion tag was unwarrented, but I think it's pretty safe from deletion at this point. What it needs is some more in-depth discussion of what he contributed to his research subjects, based not so much on his own papers but on published third-party discussions of his work, and preferably written here by someone who understands more chemistry than I do. Too many of the academic biographies here are just a dry listing of accomplishments and awards (I've been guilty of putting some of that into this article) or worse just a list of selected publications; going past that takes more effort and expertise. —David Eppstein (talk) 08:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
