Extraneous?

From "Orchestra" section: (In one instance, Ferdinand David had been concertmaster of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra since Felix Mendelssohn became conductor in 1835. In 1847, Joseph Joachim joined David on the first desk.)

There must have been tens of thousands of concertmasters of orchestras in the past couple of hundred years. How are these two special and worth mentioning here? This is a trivial piece of information that doesn't need highlighting in this article. Omc (talk) 21:32, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

:I also found this confusing. I'm wondering (as a person with zero knowledge of orchestras) if the significant part is that Joachim "joined" David. Is it unusual for two musicians to share this post? Bookchiq (talk) 21:41, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
