The division of the constitution into numbered articles is not in the original text but added later by scholars. The numbering of clauses differs in different sources, but there is general agreement on the authenticity of ---the most widely-read version of the charter---, which is found in Ibn Ishaq's Sirah Rasul Allah. Text of constitution
The text is semi-long, and putting text this long on wikipedia isn't common. Should the text be moved to Wikisouce, and then linked to? Eievie (talk) 20:24, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
:Ok, it appears the issue is that there isn't an English translation old enough to be out of copyright. The earliest I can find so far is Muhammad Hamidullah's 1941 one. Eievie (talk) 00:19, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
Evident NPOV abuse on Page
As I read this page, I noticed that there was a negative tone in it despite the theme of the page being supposedly positive. I reviewed this page's history and noticed among the many examples of abuse, one specific contributor has visited and decimated a portion of this page and introduced the problematic NPOV. When i visited the user's talk page, I discovered that their behaviour is thematic, consequently earning a topic ban on Islam related pages for NPOV abuse, as the issue was raised in the Admin Incident Report page.
I am unable to revert their abusive edits to be inline with the arbitration outcome as they are too old and now incorporated with recent edits.
@Vice regent — I am tagging you as you are an involved party of the arbitration and I think this matter may deserve your attention. Bro The Man (talk) 07:10, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
:@Bro The Man are you referring to the Kaalakaa topic ban? VR (Please ping on reply) 11:33, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
::Yes, however the edits here pre-date the topic ban. Bro The Man (talk) 11:37, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
:::@Bro The Man why don't you go ahead and fix the NPOV issues? VR (Please ping on reply) 13:20, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
::::Sure thing! Now that you are aware and pretext is established on this talk page, I'm hoping to avoid getting dragged into an edit war by those responsible when I start addressing the issue. Please place this page on your watchlist. I'll start slowly going through it over the next couple weeks. I'll ping you if there's anything that can't be settled on the talk pages amicably.
::::Cheers :) Bro The Man (talk) 18:24, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
:::::Hey mate !
:::::Is this article based on scientific resources, or not ?
:::::Because I've read in the article that Mohammad, the prophet, uses The Constitution to justify his actions against jews, just because they didn't "accept him", or something like that, while what I've read is that the jews who attacked the prophet first,and he responded on them, can you enlighte me, please?
:::::Best regards,

::::::Sticking to English language resources only, Medina was primarily a Jewish city and considered Muhammad an ethnic cousin per his lineage from Ishael, Ibrahim's second son, whereas ethnic Jews descend from Jocab/Israel, the son of Isaac/Is-haac, Ibrahim's first son.
::::::He was invited on the basis of his proven record as a skilled arbitrator and as a reliable truth teller, who seeks win-win agreements.
::::::Upon getting to Medina, the majority of Medina clans and residents codified a peace treaty and arbitration code which is what we now know as the Medina Constitution.
::::::The reason he grew in popularity and support was because of his adherence to it and only used it responsively. And every time an arbitration or decision was made by citing the treaty, the transgressing party were privileged by Mohammad to pick their own adjudicators, and it's their own adjudicators who also set the penalties/punishments as according to the transgressor's clan laws in-line with the Medina Constitution. This is what led to the punishments to the cruel punishments that Mohammad was criticised for, as those in reality not his own punishments nor were they rulings he recognised.
::::::The only time Mohammad took an offensive position against a Jewish population, was against the residents of Khaybar. This was because Khaybar had already secured and ratified a treaty for a military expedition against Medina. Thus, Mohammad attacked first before the Khaybar alliance can rally at Khaybar and garrison against Medina.
::::::And even then, it was only the Jewish knights and conspiring elders that were killed. No bystanders were harmed, but the citizens of Khaybar were allowed to ejected if they did not wish to accept being Vassals of Medina.
::::::I hope that's clarifying. Bro The Man (talk) 05:24, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
