Possible error

'Daniel Rutherford discovered nitrogen by the isolation of the particle in 1772.' Not sure what the reference to 'particle' means. Should it be another word?

'The remaining oxygen did not support combustion, and a mouse could not live in it.' Should the word 'oxygen' be 'air'.
