Danny Moss

Why no entry on this person? [http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/2062628/Obituary-Danny-Moss.html]

--ProperFraction (talk) 03:28, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

:Because no editors (yourself included) saw fit to add it? WWGB (talk) 03:34, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

::Im also extremely surprised that no article exists on Danny Moss--ProperFraction (talk) 03:36, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

:::i'd never heard of the guy prior to reading the obit., but having read it, it does indeed seem like he should have an article. i'm going to have a poke at one now. remember to be bold, y'all. tomasz. 18:17, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

::::article up. see what you think. tomasz. 15:12, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Jimmy Bonthrone

Why did his name get removed soon after I added him? Mika2008 (talk) 13:35, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

:It's still there. See Deaths in 2008#7. WWGB (talk) 13:38, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

::But was deleted, probably because of [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Luke_McCormick&diff=prev&oldid=218157067 this edit] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Se%C3%A1n_Batty&diff=prev&oldid=218152124 this edit], which preceded it. I suggest a reading of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". --Rodhullandemu 13:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Tony Schwartz

He's in 15 June because [http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-schwartz17-2008jun17,0,5408629.story this] says he died "Sunday".

But he's also in 14 June because [http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/17/business/media/16cnd-schwartz.html this] says he died "Saturday".

Whom do we believe? -- JackofOz (talk) 06:13, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

:Hi JoO, good pickup. His [http://www.tonyschwartz.org/ own website] states 15th. That'll do me! WWGB (talk) 07:29, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Chu Fu-sung

He should be included.84.134.61.228 (talk) 15:40, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

:Someone tried to include him yesterday but didn't provide a verifiable source for his death. We have to be certain before mentioning people here. --Rodhullandemu 15:47, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

The source is www.rulers.com84.134.112.193 (talk) 17:32, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

:Sorry, even as a joke it's not very funny. --Rodhullandemu 17:55, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry but I don't understand.84.134.112.193 (talk) 18:00, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

:The reference you cited redirects to a site selling "rulers", as in straight-edges used for drawing lines or measuring distance. Are you sure it's correct? --Rodhullandemu 18:05, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

::Got it. .ORG, not .COM; I'll fix it. --Rodhullandemu 18:07, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

:::On the .com page, I thought it was amusing that there was a link, "Free pictures of rulers to see." Ha. Tan | 39 18:08, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

::::Well, now he's dead, we don't need a free picture. --Rodhullandemu 18:12, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you.84.134.112.193 (talk) 18:14, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

David Brierly

I may have prematurely moved David Brierly's obit to June 10 based on information I saw on his page. Once I began looking for the announcement at The Stage[http://www.thestage.co.uk/], I found that I couldn't confirm a date of death at all. Haven't reverted my edit though. Can anyone confirm a date of death? Thank you; Susan Gleason (talk) 03:06, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

:There is also [http://www.geocities.com/cosybearuk/70screw6.html this article] that refers to 10 June. I have added it to his death notice. WWGB (talk) 03:24, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Ronnie L. White

Why was my original entry of his death deleted ? The man was murdered in police custody. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.45.71 (talk) 14:05, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

  • "The intent of these pages is to report notable deaths. Tragic deaths, while unfortunate, do not necessarily make the deceased "notable"." tomasz. 15:01, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

What is notable is the fact the man was murdered whilst in police custody. That alone makes it worthy of inclusion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.45.71 (talk) 18:22, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

:That's your opinion on the issue. however, we have a policy, and more often than not the consensus has been that tragic deaths, like thise one, aren't always the same as notable deaths. See also here for more information on WP's notability criteria.

So you will include a convicted irish terrorist, but not an Afro-American murdered by the police ? Racism ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.45.71 (talk) 20:58, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

:Ronnie L. White is a former judge and attorney. The guy murdered by police doesn't even have a WP article. Feel free to write one if you feel this is amiss, but please assume good faith and try to state your points in a better way than cowardly and meaningless accusations of racism. Thanks. tomasz. 13:04, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

How is it cowardly ? THe cowardly act is to refuse to include this man because of his Afro-American roots. Since wiki chooses to include a white paedophile who died from lethal injection, but not an Afro-American murdered in police custody what else is there to infer ?

And for the record, I am white, so it is not a case of my colour prejudice or chip on my shoulder. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.45.71 (talkcontribs)

:It's cowardly because you are an anonymous making personal attacks (insinuations of racism) on another editor rather than trying to deal with the issue in terms of our guidelines and the way wikipedia works. Our opinion of a person's worth or what they do does not determine their encyclopedic presence, otherwise there'd be no article on Adolf Hitler either. So clearly, race is not the issue here, but the guidelines i've already shown you. For the record, i also didn't remove the man from the list, i was just offering a possible explanation as to a likely reason why someone else did. Finally, regarding your race, i don't give two hoots about what race you are, as, unlike you, i don't believe it's pertinent to the issue. Thanks, tomasz. 10:55, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

It is apparent from your tone that race is indeed the issue. I don't know why you appear to have such deep ingrained views, maybe you were frightened as a baby or something weird.

But if you truly believe that a child rapist & killer is worthy of inclusion and a man murdered by the police in the cells is not, makes you one seriously mixed up person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.45.71 (talk) 14:53, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

:you're the one pushing the race issue; i'm simply explaining policy. if you don't like policy, campaign to change it, but please grow up and get over your ad hominem attacks just because someone doesn't agree with you. Maybe also try reading the ad hominem article to see where you're going wrong, it's pretty good. tomasz. 15:29, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

:: by the way, you might be shocked to learn that we also have articles on bad white guys and good black guys. OMG conspiracy?!?! tomasz. 15:37, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted.

Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia.

This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link.

If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting.

If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page.

If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta.

When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags.

The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true.

Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:
