changing name of refs

Looking through some of the edit history of this article and noticed a user (not for the 1st time) [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Donald_Trump_2024_presidential_campaign&diff=next&oldid=1250883686 changing a ref from one vague ref name (auto2) to another vague ref name (auto3)] while adding a new ref with previous ref name (auto2). Having two(or-more) refs with same ref name seems like a bad idea. Am i missing something about Wikipedia ref names? EarthFurst (talk) 23:44, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
