RedEye

Full quote from Benson's appearance, as taken from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVKlFT58Zwc:

I didn't even know that they were in the war; I thought that's where you go if you don't want to fight, go chill in Canada, so, I guess that'll be their tourism, uh, you know, that'll be their selling point, you know: "we're not in the war for a year, so come on by while we nap".

He was only a guest appearance and it hardly qualified as encyclopedic.

Also, the show is satirical and taped beforehand, so much of the criticism is not only unfounded, its ridiculous.

Says you and your opinion. Read the Canadian press today, then check Federal Government commentary. Follow up with a read of Greg's backhanded apology. When you're done, I've got a few thousand citizens who'd like to have a word with Mr. Benson on the "Highway of Heros." There was nothing satirical about that five minute clip.

Removed my comment after reading the page history. Apparently, I misunderstood.

The RedEye controversy is, unfortunately for Benson, the thing he is currently best known for. It is indeed "encyclopedic", if HIS inclusion at all is to be considered as such.--Freshfighter9 (talk) 15:19, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I cannot edit his page due to the protection on it, but he has offered a small apology on his myspace, saying "I didn’t mean to offend anyone. Sorry". (http://www.myspace.com/doug_benson) so the statement that he has not offered any apology is no longer true. Mr Show

I think Doug's super brief cameo on Mr. Show isn't worth mentioning.

:I haven't seen Mr. Show myself, but glancing at the article I found no mention of Doug, so I'll remove it for now --Mr.crabby (Talk) 16:28, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Doug Benson

Doug Benson, like many Americans, is quite ignorant about Canada. Canadian soldiers have been fighting in Afghanistan since January 2002, and have lost 116 soldiers there.

Thanks

He is a comedian, there is no reason to take a joke seriously or make ignorant comments about an entire country based on a comedian's joke. (Jvclark2 (talk) 04:50, 20 May 2010 (UTC))

What is the reference citation for Doug's birthday? The reason I'm asking is because I've noticed a discrepancy. Wikipedia lists it as July 2nd, 1964, but his Internet Movie Data Base profile (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0072476/) lists it as May 7th, 1964. Which one is correct? Stentor7 (talk) 23:10, 26 August 2011 (UTC)Stentor7

His birthday is also listed on the May 7 Wikipedia page. Chuck Coker (talk) 15:28, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Doug mentioned himself on yesterdays taping of Doug Loves Movies that May 7th is not actually his birthday. - 70.69.225.37 (talk) 20:27, 8 May 2013 (UTC)DLMFan69

:Did he say that it was July 2nd?Comatmebro ~Come at me~ 21:12, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

::He didn't say the actual day, just suggested that there are websites out there that get the day correct, without being specific. 70.69.225.37 (talk) 15:23, 9 May 2013 (UTC)DLMFan69

Episode list?

Is there an "official" episode list for the podcast somewhere? --Tim Landscheidt (talk) 22:44, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
