The use of "either/or" in the first sentence of the article is not justified: "either the pairwise sums or the pairwise products of the numbers in the set form a significantly larger set."

It seems like the actual statement does not imply both cannot occur

: $\max( |A+A|, |A \cdot A| ) \geq c |A|^{1+\varepsilon}$
