Update to Sport section with Biniam Girmay's two Tour de France stage wins

Maybe Wikipedia folks are waiting to see if Girmay wins other stages or holds onto the Green jersey, but this guy is a KING in Eritrea right now. Two stage wins do far! Hopefully it will be updated soon. 2601:14B:C301:3300:E930:66B9:2573:2135 (talk) 10:44, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

for ref 159, currently behind a paywall, but is still available on archive. (although I did have to stop loading the page once the text appeared, because it would just blank otherwise)

:Also, this paragraph needs to be rewritten, and could use the source in my previous comment.

:Compulsory military service was instituted in 1995. Officially, conscripts, male and female, must serve for 18 months minimum, which includes six months of military training and 12 months during the regular school year to complete their last year of high school. Thus around 5% of Eritreans do military service at Sawa facilities, but also by doing projects such as road building as part of their service.[citation needed]

:Compulsory military service was instituted in 1995. When the program began, conscripts, male and female, must serve for 18 months minimum, which includes six months of military training and 12 months during the regular school year to complete their last year of high school. In 1998, conscription became open ended. Thus around 5% of Eritreans do military service at Sawa facilities, but also by doing projects such as road building as part of their service.

::The corrections should really first be done in conscription in Eritrea, and then summarised at Eritrean Defence Forces#National service and Eritrea#Military. A possible solution to avoid redundancy is {{t|excerpt}}. Boud (talk) 09:53, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

The page is totally has wrong informations about Eritrea, especially in statistics of ethnic group and religious issues, The 63% for Tigringa ethnic group is totally wrong and vandalism. The right % is 46%.please Wikipedia Administration correct this wrong information Mindybusiness78 (talk) 18:22, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

:{{re|Mindybusiness78}} I don't see any mention of the Tigringa ethnic group having 63% of the population of Eritrea. At the moment, it says there is 50% and is sourced here. If you would still like to dispute that statistic, please provide a source for 46%. –MJLTalk 19:25, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

Changes to Medei Bahri section

Socialwave597 recently made edits to the Medri Bahri article [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Medri_Bahri&diff=prev&oldid=1287644015] and section of Eritreas history called Medri Bahri [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eritrea&diff=prev&oldid=1287644186] replacing it with “early modern history” and adding content relating to Abyssinia (former Ethiopian highlands (which is controversial regarding the two nations history. Also the Medri Bahri article which is Eritreas history has been changed completely to a Ethiopcentric format calling it “Merab Malash”, but also claiming it only lasted a couple of years. When in fact it lasted hundras of years until the arrival of the Italians in 1890. More users need to provide their input on this. Leechjoel9 (talk) 20:14, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

:Feel free to request a third opinion but no need to revert to your preferred version, especially when you can't find any sources referring to it as "Medri Bahri" in the 19th century. Socialwave597 (talk) 00:05, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

:Best to have this discussion at Talk:Medri Bahri per WP:MULTI. You guys should’ve done WP:DRN or an WP:RFC after it became you couldn’t reach a consensus together. Kowal2701 (talk) 10:09, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
