BIO Assessment

Needs a general copyedit and to be organized. A photo and infobox would also be awesome. CaseKid 21:55, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

:Does anyone have a photo that can be contributed? Lots are being published now following his death, but they all still seem to be in copyright.Raellerby (talk) 19:26, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

:I found two - one just fallen out of copyright in Canada, and one without restrictions on use, but no unrestricted photos showing him in his green stetson. That would really be a helpful addition to this article.Raellerby (talk) 01:28, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Rated the subject of "Mid" importance due to his stint as a Cabinet Minister. PKT 14:09, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Links with Mikhail Gorbachev

I wanted to refer everyone to [this|http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/canada/Former+Liberal+cabinet+minister+Eugene+Whelan+dead/7987795/story.html] link, because it explains about an alleged friendship between Eugene and Mikhali, which apparently even helped with making a roadmap to democracy. It would be an interesting part to add to both histories if this can be substantiated. The Legacy (talk) 07:31, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Name pronunciation

Canadian media outlets while he was in office seemed to be pretty consistently /ˈhweːlən/ or /ˈweːlən/ - I don't think I heard /ˈhwiːlən/ even once, though that's the pronunciation given in the article. It's certainly possible that his name was widely mispronounced. TooManyFingers (talk) 04:33, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

: I'm removing the given pronunciation because it seems wrong and there's no reference for it. I haven't found a video of him saying his own name, but I have found video of Canadian media reporters who presumably knew him, and who definitely did not pronounce it as currently shown.
