Hello, my name is Kim, and I work at MSL, a PR agency representing paints and performance coatings company Akzo Nobel. I am working closely with Akzo Nobel scientists and experts in the field to clarify the benefits and uses of fatty amines within the chemistry community, and I would like to propose additions to this page:

  • Within the first paragraph:

1. After the sentence, “They are often mixtures.,” add the following sentence:

"The chain lengths Patton, J.S., Stone, B., Papa C., Abramowitz, R.*, and Yalkowsky, S.H. [http://www.jlr.org/content/25/2/189.full.pdf “Solubility of fatty acids and other hydrophobic molecules in liquid trioleoylglycerol”], “Journal of Lipid Research, Volume 25”, Athens, GA, United States, 1984. Retrieved on 2 February 2018. and level of unsaturation determine the solubility characteristics of the Fatty_acid ."

2. In the last sentence, after “Some applications of these compounds are in…”,

include “ Friction_modifiers for Lubricants” within the list before “fabric softeners.”

  • Under Production and Reactions:

1. At the end of the first sentence within the first paragraph, add “ Triglycerides" to the end of sentence so that it reads “typically seed-oils or triglycerides.”

2. Within the last paragraph beginning with “Alternatively,” change “using” to “used” and include the following phrase at the end of the sentence after “applications”: ",and include detergency in Lubricants."

3. Add a new closing paragraph:

"Fatty amines can be further ethoxylated to increase the polarity Porter, M.R. [https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=UX3SBwAAQBAJ&pg=PA60&lpg=PA60&dq=ethoxylation+to+increase+polarity+of+fatty+amines&source=bl&ots=F7RQJxgw4G&sig=V2sABcqVAl5MlKdWIpicQAT40ZA&hl=en&sa=X&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=ethoxylation%20to%20increase%20polarity%20of%20fatty%20amines&f=false “Surfactants Commercially Available”], “Handbook of Surfactants”, New York, 1991.. This is carried out by reaction with Ethylene_oxide. Potassium_hydroxide is typically used as a catalyst in this reaction. The overall distribution range of the ethoxylation can be varied depending on catalyst and reaction conditions."
