: I suspect it would take a brave person to try and untangle/merge these articles !! -- Quantockgoblin 13:44, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

:: Fractional crystallisation is an important process in geology, where it probably does deserve its own page. Although do we really need a separate page for Fractional crystallization (chemistry) and Fractional crystallization (geology)? --Fitzgabbro (talk) 15:29, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

:: Oppose merging—of any two of Fractional crystallization (chemistry), Fractional crystallization (geology), and Recrystallization (chemistry), let alone all three together (I haven't looked at the other articles listed). Merging would merely create more confusion through lack of focus, and make it harder for someone interested in a particular aspect to find what they were looking for. Recrystallization, its application as a cascaded fractionation process in chemistry, and the same cascaded process as a natural phenomenon explaining geological findings, are all three separate though related topics. Link, don't merge. Also, judge the appropriate scope of an article from its projected potential size, not its current stub status.

:: Merging should usually be reserved for cases of synonymy—two articles on the same concept started under different names—not for superordinate and subordinate relationships among concepts.

::: Oppose merging any of Fractional crystallization (chemistry), Fractional crystallization (geology), and Recrystallization (chemistry). Recrystallization (chemistry) - "The solid crystals are collected by filtration and the filtrate is discarded." Fractional crystallization (chemistry) is a fractionation, often yielding more than one useful product. Fractional crystallization (geology) is from a melt rather than a solution.
