Sandys was praised by many for his illustrations of the Middle East, see eg Henry Maundrell, from 1697, p. [https://archive.org/details/gri_journeyfroma00maun/page/n96/mode/1up 67] praise for his plans of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and other places.
Alas, to me it looks as if Sandys greatly copied Jean Zuallart, (see :fr:Jean Zuallart), so did Johannes Cotovicus:
