Gold reactivity
Gold not reacting with KOH/NaOH in solution or molten state can be debated, typical etching with KOH will take time, visible in nano scales.
The January 1980 peak - Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan
In the last week of the 1970's it appeared as the Soviet Union through its military invention at Afghanistan, desired a major war. Possibly with thermonuclear missiles, and as panic in the West arrived, the gold price boomed. But as it soon afterwards appeared to just be a regional conflict (and eventually at the request of Afghanistan communist leadership), gold price -normality as of 1980 soon returned. This is the one and only example of a heavily overestimation of the gold price after 1971. Ought to be stated in article 83.255.33.20 (talk) 23:26, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
