:San Francisco Naval Shipyard → {{no redirect|Hunters Point Naval Shipyard}} – This is a more historically correct name for the article. See talk page for discussion. Mattomynameo (talk) 07:37, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
Currently the article is listed as San Francisco Naval Shipyard. But this naming is incorrect. It is true that the shipyard may have been originally coined as the "San Francisco Shipyard",{{cite news|title=NEGROES ON COAST FACE RISING STRESS: San Francisco Shipyard Area Draws Migrants From South, Fails to House Them Fairly|work=New York Times|publisher=ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The New York Times|date=9 April 1944|location=New York, NY|page=27}} however, throughout its notable history it has been known as the "Hunters Point Naval Shipyard"{{cite news|last1=Reinhold|first1=Robert|title=Navy Is Waging a Battle For San Francisco Port|url=https://www.nytimes.com/1988/09/18/us/navy-is-waging-a-battle-for-san-francisco-port.html|accessdate=26 May 2018|work=New York Times|date=18 September 1988|page=26}}{{cite news|last1=Schneider|first1=Keith|title=Major San Francisco Development Faces a Ballot Test|work=New York Times|publisher=ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The New York Times|date=28 May 2008|page=C8}} or the "San Francisco Naval Shipyard at Hunters Point."{{cite news|title=EXPERTS SCRUB OUT RADIOACTIVE ZONE: Navy in 2 Laboratories Finds Methods to Decontaminate Bikini Target Ships|work=New York Times|publisher=ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The New York Times|date=21 May 1950|page=38}}{{cite news|title=AREA PROJECTS LAG AT SAN FRANCISCO: Development Plans for Bay Criticized -- Clash in Press Over New Crossings|work=ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The New York Times|publisher=New York Times|date=16 August 1953|page=60}} Very recently, real estate developers seem to have attempted to re-brand it back to "San Francisco Naval Shipyard."{{cite news|last1=King|first1=John|title=Promise is building in long-neglected SF shipyard site|url=https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/Promise-is-building-in-long-neglected-shipyard-9235519.php|accessdate=26 May 2018|work=San Francisco Chronicle|date=21 September 2016}}{{cite web|title=The San Francisco Shipyard | New Homes in San Francisco|url=https://thesfshipyard.com/|website=San Francisco Shipyard|publisher=FivePoint|accessdate=26 May 2018}}
Therefore, I propose that we name the article consistent with its most historically notable and recognizable name, "Hunters Point Naval Shipyard" or perhaps "San Francisco Naval Shipyard at Hunters Point." Any thoughts?--Mattomynameo (talk) 07:25, 26 May 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Ⓩⓟⓟⓘⓧ Talk 13:35, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support. This reverses an undiscussed move 14:58, 10 April 2004 Stan Shebs (talk | contribs | block) . . (43 bytes) (+43) . . (moved to "San_Francisco_Naval_Shipyard") so could even be justified on that basis alone, plus extra evidence above makes it a clear case. Andrewa (talk) 16:35, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
