Creatinine is a poor proxy for renal function because the same creatinine level may represent normal renal function in a young patient with high muscle mass or significant renal disease in an older patient with decreased muscle mass. All modern guidelines for administration of iodinated contrast are based on eGFR. I have updated the article accordingly Anthracene (talk) 03:52, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
