A highly worthy topic! I made some touch-ups but needs more, of course. We also need to try to avoid the duplication, or at least to make it reasonable, with other articles. We don't need to try to retell the general history of Crimea or of the Crimean Tatars in few words. We should consentrate on how this affected the religious life, first of all. I will make announcements at the Ukraine-related notice board. Regards, --Irpen 22:09, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, but estimates of 4% of Muslims in Ukraine are ridicoulisly high. That would be about 1,900,000 Muslims on a total popultion of 48 milion. Totally inaccurate and biased. Even after 15 years of repatriation of Crimean Tars, most estimates put that number under 300.000. Show twio credible links to the 2 milion claim or I'll ask to remove tr misleading figures. Wikipedia should be a FACTUAL free Encyclopedia, you cannot just guess a figure.

  • Weak Oppose The article appears to be more about the Muslim community in Ukraine, rather than the practice of Islam in Ukraine (as the new name would suggest). --Húsönd 17:15, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Strange numbers for the number of muslims in Ukraine

4% or 2 million of muslims in Ukraine is such a strange number, so it should be confirmed by independent survey, not by the claims of muslim organisation. The reason for this is obvious: religious\ethnic organisations which have finance source from some international organisaton\other country often increase the estimates of the number of "followers" in order to recieve more funding. The similar situation is with jewish organisations, who show higher percentage of Jews in Ukrainian population, than the survey would show, to get more money from abroad. --redSUNRISING 21:29, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

:Duly noted. Still not resolved. We need census data. 19:59, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

:: I agreee that the numbers are unlikely but as long it is presented like now, where it says that the numbers are according to Clerical Board of Ukraine's Muslims, I don't see any problem. --IRISZOOM (talk) 10:39, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

% of population

:"Islam in Ukraine is a minority religious affiliation with Muslims representing around 5% of the total population as of 2016."{{Cite web |title=Religiya 2005–2016 |url=http://old.razumkov.org.ua/upload/Religiya_200516_A4.compressed.pdf |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170422181327/http://old.razumkov.org.ua/upload/Religiya_200516_A4.compressed.pdf |archive-date=22 April 2017 |access-date=25 January 2022}}

This seems like an inflated figure and well above the ~1% many reliable mainstream publications have recently reported. How reliable is the source claiming 5% in 2016? Mooonswimmer 00:26, 26 July 2023 (UTC) Mooonswimmer 00:26, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

:Good point. Most sources suggeat that Ukraine's muslims make up no more than 2% of its population. The leading section demands an overhaul. Gorgedweller (talk) 20:10, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Inaccurate map or data

The map of Islam in Europe as a whole shows Ukraine as pure white, representing <1% muslims.

Yet the article starts by saying that around 5% of Ukraine are muslims, so one of these has to be wrong.

Could someone find out what's going on? Taiyaki Schizo (talk) 08:06, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
