==Read this before posting about DNA evidence or Kosminski==
The purported DNA evidence is unreliable and universally dismissed by DNA fingerprinting experts and by most Ripperologists. The scientific journal that originally published the study has already printed a notice of concern after the authors were unable to produce any of the original data or rebut criticisms of the work.[https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/1556-4029.15595] Consequently, the identity of the Ripper remains unknown. I would like to rectify the fact that Jack the Ripper is unidentified as they had done DNA tests that tell us who he is 2A00:23C7:BB94:5B00:9DC3:591C:76BE:E4A2 (talk) 15:15, 4 February 2025 (UTC)

::Yeah, how is DNA from 1888 accurate when the first DNA testing wasn't done until 85 years later? lots of people could have came into contact with it. 2601:3C5:8180:31D0:2C75:20FC:11F1:CDFE (talk) 06:47, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
:How did they get DNA from 1888? DNA technology didn't start until the mid 1970s and the older DNA is the more likely it is to be false. 2601:3C5:8180:31D0:2C75:20FC:11F1:CDFE (talk) 06:45, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

Inflation Adjustment
There's a misleading comment about the size of a reward offered that lists a value range indexed by GDP. That's not how to inflation adjust and so I corrected based on the same source. That edit was reversed. Can you explain @drkay? Alta-Snowbird (talk) 17:54, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
:As explained by the source, there are various ways to account for inflation, one being GDP. GDP is more accurate when indexing for relative wealth or income as with the value of a reward. The indicator you are using is only appropriate for the relative value of a consumer good. DrKay (talk) 18:06, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
::A reward is meant to incentivize relevant parties to take action (e.g., provide information about Jack the Ripper). The meaningful comparison is how much purchasing power the reward represented at the time—what the recipient could buy with it. Indexing to GDP misrepresents this by implying the reward’s significance was tied to the overall economy, rather than its practical value to individuals. Alta-Snowbird (talk) 20:18, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
:::There is no misrepresentation and the source is clear. DrKay (talk) 21:03, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
::::Might just be best to say what this was compared to the average wage at the time. Slatersteven (talk) 21:10, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
:::::Agree that average wage would make more sense. For clarity, I've added info on where the range comes from, which at least explains why it's such a big range. Alta-Snowbird (talk) 17:51, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
