Untitled section

There is alot of information per Wiipedia article re codes

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_Harbor_advance-knowledge_debate

that should perhaps be included here —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.5.141.211 (talk) 21:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

quality of information here

The only JIN sryptosystem about which i know much, JN-25, was represented here by a poorly researched account. I've corrected it without changing much else (ie, organization), but would advise those interested to consult John Prados' book for more information, some of which might be used to improve this article. ww 23:04, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

:This is WIKI! If you have the info, please add it in. All experts welcome. Folks at 137 21:28, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

This article confuses codes and ciphers. PURPLE and RED were cipher machines, not "codes". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gcapitalg (talkcontribs) 02:21, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

Adding a first person history from one of Rochefort's codebreakers to the Japanese naval codes page

I have added a video clip to the Naval Codes page that is a portion of an interview of RADM Mac Showers (USN Ret) who is the last surviving officer of Rochefort's JN-25-breaking team at Station H. The link has been deleted twice by a wiki bot that has judged it inappropriate. I cannot imagine the the folks who read this group would not want to see this. It bears DIRECTLY on the topic. Help me out here! It is my copyrighted material and I have not objection to its public posting....

:There's a response on this point at the talk page corresponding to this user's IP address "User" account. I think it would be worth including, myself. ww (talk) 17:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

section on MAGIC, the untold story is a problem

This brief section is misplaced in this article. It belongs perhaps in the MAGIC article or the internment article. It has the further problem that the claimed connection is incoherent and not credible. DeWitt's racism and FDR's acquiescence is more than sufficient to explain this extremely regrettable episode. I suggest this section be removed here and added somewhere else, though I really think it so marginal it may not belong on WP at all. Comments? ww (talk) 16:35, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Agreed that it is misplaced and not relevant to the details of the codes themselves. I moved it to the main article Magic (cryptography) because Lowman was an Assistant to the Director of the NSA and not some conspiracy nut. However, I was not able to find in Lowman's book an assertion that the primary reason for the internments was to prevent Japan from discovering that the codes had been broken, although that is a plausible reason. The Emperor's Codes

The page numbering appears to be different between the US and British editions, making it hard to deal with citations. Anyone who wants to try to reconcile it, feel free. Doctorhook (talk) 21:56, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Japanese pages

The Japanese wiki page for the subject "Codes of Japan" is here: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E3%81%AE%E6%A9%9F%E6%A2%B0%E5%BC%8F%E6%9A%97%E5%8F%B7

Can someone link this? Also, since there doesn't seem to be pages on Japanese cryptography in general, maybe we should change this page to the general "Japanese Cryptography". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.134.216.78 (talk) 23:28, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Purple Code

Shouldn't the paragraph on Purple Code be a separate section rather than added to the bottom of a section to which it says itself it has no connection?Haxbyct (talk) 09:48, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
