In Twigg-Smith's book, there is this quote attributed to him: annexation “I regard Annexation,”...."the best thing that could happen for Hawai‘i, both for the native and foreign population . . . ::{{u|KAVEBEAR}} Trying to jog my memory. Somewhere in the recent months I saw a quote that was pretty close to that. It wasn't Twigg-Smith. And it doesn't seem to me like it was Kaulukoʻu. But I do believe it was connected to someone on Kalakaua's privy council. And I do remember thinking how odd it was for this to have come from someone connected to Kalakaua. Perhaps an obit.
