Conviction upheld - 1 Dec 2023

[https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/jussie-smollett-conviction-upheld-by-illinois-appeals-court/]

-Illinois Appeals Court upheld the conviction AND jail sentence [https://apnews.com/article/jussie-smollett-illinois-appeal-3eaacedbf9b11cc97115ed37212adf29]. This is using AP, WP's golden standard for RS. This article is not being updated by its gatekeepers even though this happened more than 5 hours ago and others have posted about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:18B:8180:D810:4EE2:2FC2:E77C:8573 (talk) 18:03, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

:Also. On November 21, 2024, the Illinois Supreme Court reversed Smollett's conviction on the grounds that trying him the state had made the "deal" of dismissal in exchange for community service and forfeiture of $10,000 violated his due process rights. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/21/arts/jussie-smollett-conviction-overturned.html#:~:text=The%20Illinois%20Supreme%20Court%20on%20Thursday%20overturned%20Jussie%20Smollett's%20conviction,as%20part%20of%20a%20negotiated Stuligross (talk) 17:05, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

::Complete and utter bullshit..

::He is guilty AF and everyone knows it. 200.88.239.25 (talk) 22:10, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

:::Sadly, he is 'innocent' on procedural grounds. However, you are right that this decision does not reverse the finding that Smollett dishonestly staged a hate crime hoax. It just means he cannot be held accountable for it under the criminal law due to the ridiculous and perverse decision made by a biased prosecutor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:B90C:6700:7055:8040:2576:DEAA (talk) 23:16, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 22 November 2024

I request to edit that he is not Jewish but has a Jewish father, his mother is not Jewish, and he was not raised Jewish nor did he convert. You erroneously list him as Jewish and he’s not. AvaZelen (talk) 10:22, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

:{{Not done}}: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. See: [https://www.timesofisrael.com/jussie-smollett-convicted-of-staging-racist-attack-against-himself-lying-to-police/amp/ this article] which says that The actor is a jewish. kemel49(connect)(contri) 10:40, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

::@KEmel49 So are these the parameters for verification in Wikipedia nowadays? any article which makes a claim, even if buttressed by the plain reality written a few words later "born to a Jewish father" is taken at face value?? jussie has never personally identified as Jewish, and until a reliable source demonstrates as much, the Times of Israel's assertion doesn't mean anything. 61.244.234.218 (talk) 13:38, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

:::Ok until any source provided for that claim, the previous one is not going to change as it is backed by a source even if you think it's not. For reliability questions regarding The Times of Israel, see: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 192§Times of Israel.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 15:36, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
