Name of article

The Great Buddha statue is far more famous than the temple. I think the article should be titled "Great Buddha of Kamakura" and then mention that it is located at Kotokuin.Ghostofnemo (talk) 11:42, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Accuracy

There are some minor details in this article that need reference or clarification. I'm looking at my entrance ticket I received while I was in Japan on holiday and it states that the Buddha was constructed for 10 years rather than the 5 years listed in this article. Furthermore the priest's name is spelled Joko on the the ticket where as it is Joukou in the article.

Can someone please verify this? I wouldn't think the publication on the back of the entrance ticket is wrong vs. what is in this article.

Done.

My ticket also has 10 years listed, although regarding the Joko/Joukou issue it should be noted that the "u" following a hiragana character is just a way of saying the "o" sound is elongated when using the latin alphabet. This is alternatively written jōkō, and in this case it may actually be quite likely the ticket was "simplified" for western readers. 2601:8:A300:A72:B9BE:74DD:F87C:2577 (talk) 11:46, 1 January 2014 (UTC) Chris

Cemetery?

Many, perhaps even "most, temples in Japan have cemeteries within the temple precincts. Is there any indication from the literature that a cemetery is associated with this temple? Boneyard90 (talk) 21:42, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Remove 3d model

The included 3d scan is of a very poor reproduction of the statue, and should not be included in the article. It bears numerous differences to the actual sculpture and is clearly not taken from the original object. I am not a regular contributor, but I removed the 3d model last year, before someone else added it again. Can the model please be removed for the sake of relevance and accuracy?
