Same Person?
Is the picture here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lawrence_Washington.jpg of the same person as the one here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Portrait_of_Lawrence_Washington_%281659%E2%80%931698%29.jpg?
Looks like the same person to me.

Who is Lawrence Washington (1659–1698) and who is Lawrence Washington (1718–1752)?

::I had that same question. -- Kuzey457 (talk) 21:25, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
:::Agreed. It is obviously misidentified. It is of Lawrence Washington (1718-1752), a grandson of Lawrence Washington (1659-1698). As per above. TuckerResearch (talk) 18:57, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

“Plantation” changed to “estate” & deleting “enslaving”
User:Beyond My Ken What's the reason for changing "plantation" to "estate?" And wikipedia systemically seems to abhor including designation of enslavers as such, but what's your reasoning?LumaNatic (talk) 23:36, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
: {{u|LumaNatic}}: Why don't you keep this discussion centralized at the NPOVN rather than trying to get different answers from different people? Natureium (talk) 23:52, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
::{{u|Beyond My Ken}} directed me to bring it here.LumaNatic (talk) 23:58, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
:::Really? Where? Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:09, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
::::This is what I wrote on AN/I:
Context is everything. Every owner of a planatation in that area during the time periods in question was a slave-owner. I am not aware of any plantations (outside of Georgia for a short period of time) which did not use slave labor. Given that, "slave owner" is not a defining characteristic for those who owned plantations at the time, and including that description with no context in the lede of their articles is neither useful nor informative. I do not object to including in the lede the fact that they owned slaves if it is presented with context (see my re-write of the lede of Lawrence Washington (1659–1698)), but saying someone was, for instance, a "lawyer, soldier, politician and slave-owner" is not encyclopedically appropriate. LumaNatic needs to stop that behavior immediately, and work with other editors to include the information in a contextually appropriate manner. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:50, 2 August 2018 (UTC)No where on or off of Wikipedia did I tell you to open a discussion here after one had already been opened one up on the same subject at NPOVN. Please do not misrepresent what other editors write, such actions, if repeated, can get you blocked for disruptive editing. Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:13, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Marriage date
"In 1688, Lawrence married Mildred Warner, one of three daughters of Mildred Reade ..."
According to the article about Mildred, they married in 1685. --INS Pirat (talk) 21:42, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
